Glaucidium brasilianum with a Liomys salvini
Chinandega, Nicaragua
Roosting in a tamarisk tree that we were mapping. It let us get awfully close, remarkably tolerant of our presence or relying on its camouflage. Wish we had had a better camera than the iPhone. (First photo courtesy of @djlangen. Observation made off-trail while involved in an authorized research project in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve.)
