One of the three species in the Phyllophaga cribrosa species group.
noticed the bug on a wall near a shopping center however it wasn't moving or doing much
when handling for photos, the beetle's defensive smell was like I just snorted white vinegar. quite strong. Found amongst the sandy bank of a fresh water creek with others of the same species that were digging holes and mating.

Did some black-lighting at the entrance of Big Spring State Park. Really pleased to see a lot of diversity!
Still working on a lot of these ID's, but I wanted to get them uploaded soon.
The AI suggested subfamily Galerucinae, but I couldn't find anything similar there among the species reported from Missouri on iNaturalist.
