Spotted by @neilvinson on Wild Raisin (Viburnum cassinoides). There were at least five different individuals at various stages of development on this plant.
Found in pollinator garden during our socially distanced, outdoor meeting
E. maculatus, I think.
New for the park

On the small Potentilla sp blooming currently
On Bebb's Willow in the Pollinator Garden. This is a willow specialist that had only been recorded in the park once before, so it is new for the pollinator garden :) @neilvinson @lauraclarke
Seen during Earth Day hike :)
On 4 Balsam Fir and White Spruce trees in this area adjacent to/in swamp. Laminal and marginal soredia; soredia many per soralium; light/tan underside; rhizines extending close to margin; epruinose lobe tips; cortex K+ yellow, medulla C+ red. Currently appears to be the first record of the species for Nova Scotia.

Pollinator garden Fundy park
She was busy excavating a burrow in the pollinator garden. Check it out @neilvinson @laura_clarke :)
Literally right next to the privy shelter at the trail head to the Forks. Several plants present.
To my knowledge, this is the first record of this species that has been confirmed by an image in the Canadian Maritimes. The only other record of this species accepted by ADIP (the Atlantic Dragonfly Inventory Project headed by Paul Brunelle) was of a sight record by Karl Dexter on June 26th, 1995 in Saint John County, New Brunswick.
For the record, this species was observed by Jim Bell, Rebecca McCluskey, and Denis Doucet. The species was also observed by Daniel Sinclair and Evan Houlahan on the previous day in the same location, but they were unable to capture it. Duplicate observations on iNaturalist are as follows: https://inaturalist.ca/observations/126749394 and https://inaturalist.ca/observations/126819592. Location accurate to within 15 m

Pollinator Garden Survey Aug 6th 2021 w P-L Haché
Male seen in poplars 20m north of point 7 along Sussex Nature Walkway. I know this is technically a "casual observation" but I recorded the obsv as accurately as possible using the signpost as a marker.
I think I have the Genus right? The only one I can find on Bug Guide with the same cool blue colouration is A. lepidus, but that only has records for the southern US. What a beauty!
@juan_sphex @susanna_h @matthias22 This one is still stumping me. Is the Subtribe right, even? This was a very pretty wasp. I have more pics if needed.
An occasional beautiful visitor at this site
Heads up, @neilvinson and @laura_clarke
New for the park on Fireweed in the Native Garden behind the VRC
Shows same stripe at the rear of the scape as this individual. If ID correct, then new for the park
Edit. This is a female as pointed out by John Ascher, so my reference to the other individual (which was supposed to be linked by a hyperlink) is incorrect anyway and also in error, as the pale stripe is not visible either. (Two errors in one ID: that may be a new record on my part. Doh!)
Nevertheless, this is still a new species for the park, albeit a different one, so heads up @neilvinson and @laura_clarke
@matthias22 Is this Ancistrocerus waldenii? If so, new to the park and me too :)
Heads up @neilvinson @laura_clarke
New bee for the park. The two possibilities seem to be either Hylaeus modest (Modest Masked Bee) or Hylaeus affinis (Eastern Masked Bee), both of which would be new for the park. See comment from Dr John Ascher below.

New pollinator for the park
Found in the no-mow zone in the bowl
Looks like it has 'hopper prey. Could this be Mimesa sp in Psenini, @matthias22? I can add other pics more cropped, but the angles are quite similar.
New for the Park

FYI @johnklymko @neilvinson @laura_clarke My first this year, in a new location and a new county record :) Found during a pollinator survey at Wolfe Lk
I think this is an Aphilanthops frigidus male, but the continuous band on T1 seems unusual?
Heads up @neilvinson @laura_clarke
If correct, New for the park and pollinator garden, using Solidago canadensis mostly.

Update, Aug 24th: This one is actually the THIRD individual I photographed that day. I will post the other two separately.

New species for the park found in pollinator garden during BioBlitz :)
@sinclvan6 @neilvinson @laura_clarke
In a great big Dogwood (Pagoda?) growing next to the pking lot. This was a good-sized wasp, larger than any Ancistrocerus I have seen. Presuming my ID is correct, has this species ever been reported in Atlantic Canada? @matthias22 @johnklymko @heatherholm
Heads up, @neilvinson @laura_clarke
I am awaiting further info on this wasp. It may be new for all of Atlantic Canada. As far as I know, it was only known for southern Ontario in Canada as of 2008. I saw it on the big Dogwood next to the pking lot at the VRC.
@neilvinson @laura_clarke Confirmed: A new bee for the park, found in the pollinator garden.
😀
Heads up @sinclvan6 @neilvinson @laura_clarke. New species for the park found the day before the beginning of the BioBlitz in the native garden/regen area behind the VRC.
Those pleats on the back are pretty funky! @matthias22
If correct, new for the park @neilvinson @laura_clarke
The Genus is new to me and new for the park. I see that there are four species listed on the ACCDC site for NB: S. foederalis, S. labiata, S, nitida and S. subemarginata. When I go look on Discover Life, the Stelis listed that seems to fit best is S. subemarginata, as each of the yellow bands on tergites 1-5 seem to be slightly interrupted medially.
Heads up @neilvinson @laura_clarke @sinclvan6
I wonder if this is a B. vagans male, or perhaps B. sandersoni? I will upload more images soon.
Many thanks to @jdee for bringing me to this spot and sharing a great day in the field where we saw so much, despite the temps not getting above 15C during the day. It was only around 12C when we saw the tiger beetles.
