Probably hard to ID. Carpenter species of some sort I assume. Image shows a queen moving with workers or what appears to be the queen.

I don’t know what’s up with these orange/red Ponera pennsylvanica, but all of the ones at this site look like this. And they’re everywhere.

Steephead ravine. When I visited this spot during the summer I did not find these, but now they are numerous. Perhaps they favor the winter more.
