This is a pile of river otter scat on a dead tree snag next to a salt marsh creek. Fiddler crabs are abundant around this tree, but the otter had eaten a juvenile stone crab from the tidal creek. A family of otter has been observed at this location on multiple occasions.

I unknowingly stepped on an Eastern Glass Lizard in duff under Andropogon growing in the center of an ATV trail. I noticed thrashing in the grass and found this tail. It thrashed back and forth vigorously for several (3-5) minutes and gradually slowed down, but did not completely stop for 8-10 minutes. I never saw the lizard. Note the 4 distinct symmetrical pairs of muscle bundles that each narrow to even-length blunt tips.

I have seen several adult male Long-tailed Weasels in MA with a remaining white band of fur above the black at the end of the tail. This has lingered from the winter white, or partially white, coat color. In MA, Long-tailed Weasels seldom get a full white (with black tail tip) winter coat.

There was just over a foot of snow last night, but sunny skies today. This porcupine was trying to climb a bank that was just too steep. Finally it went 20 feet farther down the road, but still struggled to plow through the snow to get up the slope and over a rock wall.
