My mother was my inspiration. I am a lifelong birdwatcher and gardener. Began majoring in botany in college but changed to horticulture to avoid the physics requirement for Botany. I hike for fun and like to pay attention to what I see along the way. I volunteer for the San Diego Natural History Museum as a Canyoneer: I lead public nature hikes in the hills and valleys of San Diego County.
