Studied Botany and English at UCT in the 1980s. Taught Biology and English at high schools in South Africa and Eswatini before being involved in an international youth development organisation, which operates in South Africa. Passionate about education and more recently involved in conservation initiatives in the Lower Silvermine Wetland area between Clovelly and Fish Hoek, including alien vegetation clearing, and the management of the wetland area in partnership with the City of Cape Town (Riverine Rovers/Friends of Silvermine Nature Area).
