I'm a birder at heart, but that's what eBird's for, so iNat ends up being where I post everything else I'm into. It's been more recently that I've picked up herping, and I've found a second passion in salamanders. Currently, the diversification of the genus Batrachoseps is at the forefront of my salamander interests.
Now that I live in Santa Barbara, I've also found myself hooked by the diversity of intertidal fish and am now truly hooked on learning their identification and filling in gaps on iNat for the area.
I study biology in the College of Creative Studies at UC Santa Barbara with an emphasis in ecology and evolutionary biology. I'm presently interested in molecular phylogenetics, systematics, population/conservation genetics, and generally, molecular ecology
I'm trying to jam in as much ornithological field work during my undergrad education. I'd love to some more long-term field work once I graduate. Going on to get my phd is my current goal, and I'm particularly interested in doing research on the phylogeography of thamnophilidae, furnariidae, or new world flycatchers.
