I was born in Canada, naturalized as an Australian, returned to Canada. I am an evolutionary biologist with a taxonomic focus on insects. Much of my research focus has been on the gall inducing thrips on Australian Acacia. My research focus has shifted to the mosquitoes of Newfoundland and Labrador. Through the University of Florida's medical entomology lab, I am now a certified mosquito identification specialist (2014). Regarding the rest of the natural world, I am an enthusiastic rank amateur open to being shown the light.
