Ready to get involved in the Great Southern BioBlitz?

Hi all,
Welcome to the Great Southern BioBlitz 2021 with Maroondah City Council.
Following on from the success of the City Nature Challenge 2021 where Maroondah logged:
• 2,652 observations
• 570 species
• 80 observers
• 185 identifiers
We would like to build on previous efforts and reach a greater number of observations, species, observers and indentifiers! Please feel welcome to join us for the GSB 2021 and build on our CNC 2021 results!

Just like the City Nature Challenge the Great Southern BioBlitz event will focus on collecting three sets of information, the iNaturalist platform will compile statistics on:

• the numbers of different species observed
• the number of observations, and
• the number of observers

Some more information on the Great Southern BioBlitz:
Keep an eye on the Maroondah Council website for event information!

Maroondah is planning to hold several “Nature Discovery Activities”, hosted at local reserves during the BioBlitz period (22nd-25th October), led by people with local expertise and/or knowledge.
The nature discovery activities will showcase selected reserves across Maroondah, the nature they support, and encourage you to log your nature observations on iNaturalist as you go.

You do not have to be at a registered activity to participate, observations made over the 22nd to the 25th of October will directly contribute to GSB event data. The activities are there to encourage community involvement and develop awareness of the wonderful biodiversity found in Maroondah.

Keep observing and logging observations in the meantime in the name of citizen science and all data collected in Maroondah can be found here:
