Jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata marginata) Listed on IUCN Red List as Near Threatened
Our precious jarrah (and marri) is listed on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species 2019 as "Near Threatened".
This of course is no surprise and goes hand in hand with the plight of our 3 endangered black cockatoos. Thank goodness logging will cease in a couple of years time but will this be enough especially considering "thinning" of forests and clearfelling for bauxite mining will still continue.
THREATS (as listed on IUCN Red List)
The habitat of this species has undergone decline due to clearing and cultivation associated with agriculture and pastoralism. The association between potential threats and ongoing decline requires further assessment.
