Birds of the Rotary Nature Center at Lake Merritt

In the spirit of the nation's first municipal naturalist Paul Covel's book "People are for the Birds!" this project is established to provide a site for posting and viewing the resident and migratory birds that are seen at the Lake Merritt Wildlife Refuge in Oakland CA.

The Rotary Nature Center at 600 Bellevue Avenue has historically led the way, and Golden Gate Audubon activities will soon be offered at the RNC.

It will be useful to know how birds currently use the fenced-in wildlife yard and artificial islands as well as the entire lake,which is the Refuge.

When the nature center reopens, the photos collected here might contribute to a display and to environmental education activities for visitors and local school children.

Observations must include a photo of a bird at Lake Merritt or the Lake Merritt Channel. If the bird is observed at 600 Bellevue Ave on shore and/or in the fenced in yard, the observer is requested to note that. vähemmän ↑
