Twenty-seven naturalists have made one hundred and fifty-two observations of Common Reed (Phragmites australis), Japanese Angelica Tree (Aralia elata), Italian Arum (Arum italicum) and Porcelain-berry (Ampelopsis glandulosa) and associated organisms. Good news! The infestation of Italian Arum discovered on the Bronx River in Westchester county was recently dug up and discarded-- an example of Early Detection and Rapid Response (EDRR) in action!

That site on the Bronx River will need checking next year, because it is awfully hard to get out all of the tiniest tubers.
Agreed!! The abundant tubers are the color of dirt and look like small stones. Interesting observation is that they all seemed to be the same size ca 1 cm diameter.
Ah, what a pity they are not white -- that would make it much easier!
