 Calamaria albiventer (Gray, 1835) is rediscovered at its type locality on Penang Hill on Penang Island, Malaysia after a six-decade absence of recorded sightings in the country. The species is known from only six locations in Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore, and Sumatra. A description of the new specimen is provided along with the first ever illustrations of the species in life and observations of its natural history. An updated taxonomic key to the Calamaria species of Peninsular Malaysia is included. 

caught the king cobra (top) attacking a copperhead racer (observation here: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/215607) in a storm drain at Kadoorie Agricultural Research Centre, Shek Kong, Yuen Long, Hong Kong.

The cobra was about 2.2m long; didn't get to see how big the racer was, but probably a similar size or slightly bigger.

Didn't get too close - this was taken with a 180mm setting telephoto.

8-9ft King Cobra cannibalizing a smaller King among the boulders in the middle of a stream. The prey was still alive, mostly inert, sometimes twisting vigorously. After a few minutes, with only the tail tip hanging out of its mouth, the victor made its way across the stream and climbed up into into a tangle of vines.
