With bonus leaf beetle hiding in the background (logged separately).
5mm, on a Corymbia tree, but not the same one in the previous listing
This little mirid turned up on a laundry basket which had been under a big blackwood tree. I haven't seen this one before.
Multiple small galls on both sides of eucalyptus leaf vein that have swallowed up the whole leaf.
See later photos for details of underside and legs
Deceased, probably as a result of damage visible to the thorax.
Small black wasp with dark yellow spot on rear half of wings. Looked to be hunting among the grass - not flying above human ankle level.
Adult and what looks to be nymph of the same species closer to the leaf stalk.
A bad angle, but note the distinctive V markings on the abdomen. Possible hitchhiker from Victoria but also known in the wider region.
Normally I wouldn't bother recording slaters but this one had unusual colouration and was unable to move its front (white) legs. May have been in molt, or suffering a bacterial/fungal infection?
Only the one photo sorry. Mating flower wasps. Female mostly black with reddish brown upper abdomen and legs, distinct yellow fuzz around head.
Small and very pale, possibly teneral but in close quarters with many other insects.
A rather battered specimen, with interesting black edges on the wings.

Three cerci, no white tips obvious on the cerci."
Species? Sap sucker just swinging in the leaves with parasitoid
Identified as Eurymeloides on Bowerbird by Liz O'Donnell: "Was able to find quite a few photos of adults of this genus but not the nymphs. Suggestions welcome!"
Small dark mottled acacia jewel beetle
Identified as Hypocisseis latipennis on Bowerbird by Liz O'Donnell: "Not Diphucrania (which tends to have brighter white markings on the abdomen). Hypocisseis is a much better fit, see http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_jewelbeetles/AcaciaJewelBeetle2.htm"
Species? Dark jewel beetle with bright white patches, Diphucrania sp. LOD2
Identified as Diphucrania on Bowerbird by Liz O'Donnell: "Looks to be similar or same species as http://www.bowerbird.org.au/observations/30790"

Identified as Alisterus scapularis on Bowerbird by Liz O'Donnell
Wary duck parents with 5 ducklings
Species? Xmas beetle with pitted elytra, white hair on belly
Identified as Anoplognathus on Bowerbird by Liz O'Donnell: "I have included an image of the underside of the beetle in case there are structures here relevant to a species ID - it's slightly distorted by the wineglass used to get the image but hey, whatever works :)"
Large brown mantis with very spiky arms
Identified as Archimantis latistyla on Bowerbird by Matthew Connors: "Quite spiky indeed - they're a very variable species. Could you please add this to the Mantises Project?"
Species? Abispa wasp with wavy not straight black band on abdomen
Identified as Abispa Abispa on Bowerbird by Liz O'Donnell: "Relatively stout wasp with orange antenna, head and legs. Thorax black with orange marks on each shoulder and between wings. Segmented orange abdomen with black band in the middle, band is wavy and does not extend all the way out to the edge of the relevant segment."
Some kind of egg case, smooth with a pearl-like lustre.

Unsure if this was a molt or what's left of dinner for an assassin bug or similar.

Found a metal fence absolutely covered in these.
Possibly Oecobia frauenfeldi? See http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au/psyc/frauenfeldi.html
In caterpillar stage, and moth stage after pupation
On each side of flowering gum leaves during the day.
Medium size slender beetles with chequerboard pattern on elytra, some variation in pattern observed between individuals. Attracted to lights.
Small black wasp with yellowish feet and band on top half of wings. Flying fast and erratically with pseudoscorpion in tow (logged separately).
It is not every day one sees a flying pseudoscorpion! Dull brown body with glossy brown pincers. Hard to get a better pic as it was firmly attached to a fast moving wasp (logged separately).
This record is for the insects that made the galls and not their attendant ants.
