Observed during monthly amphibian monitoring. Photos are of the same individual - the first two photos were taken from the foot bridge, and the last two photos were taken from the concrete dam (i.e., 180 degrees from first two photos).
A large patch of maidenhair ferns growing on a flat area near a small, almost dry stream. I was surprised at the size of this patch and the dense coverage of ferns. Most plants withered during our freeze, but new leaves are coming back now that's been warmer.
