A weedy species of disturbed grassland
@chris_wahlberg @leslieh @surfinbird I noticed you identified this species several times; could this be correct? Thanks so much for having a look at my observation!
Relativley thing (0.5 mm thick) encrusting algae. Chalky-white, mauve if shaded. Usually lumpy, or has small, upright knobs. Conceptacles pimple-like and uniporate.
Abundant on the south-west coast. Usually grows on or near limpets, but may also forms a continuous, thin lining to intertidal pools (see https://www.algaebase.org/search/species/detail/?species_id=2237).
Found on the rocky shore in Jacobsbaai, in front of Weskusplek Restaurant.
