Saw this two-leafed plant right next to a small creek. The ground was like slippery wet clay and this was one of the few plants that was growing on it.
Observed during the forbs/wildflower tour at the Union Bay natural area. The common vetch is a small forb that is actually used as a nitrogen fixing plant. There are many scattered throughout UBNA near the trails, but is actually considered a weed rather than a flower.
Non native species, toxic to grazing animals, bitter taste, non toxic after drying,
Has red and white flowers and green spiky capsules with seeds inside. It I poisonous to horses.
Small plant with a branch with leaves branching off in an alternating pattern with distinctive striations down the leaves and small white buds coming off the top. Leaves are rough on top and look smooth on bottom
I know that these birds are ducks but I am unsure of the specific name and species.
Found along the path of the union bay natural area, large shrub up to 3 meters in height with white flowers with 5 petals. Leaves are serrated and the younger branches seem to be a reddish color with large red-brown thorns protruding from them
Small green shrub growing densely amongst some type of dead tree. The leaves are very flat and round and grow opposite of each other on each branch of the plant. No evidence of flowers or berries and plant is about 6 feet tall at its peak. Grows upwards with layers of leaves every few inches
White flowers with pairs of leaves surrounding them. Trunk has horizontal striations all the way up and seems to just be starting to flower.
