Spotted Salamander
Ambystoma maculatum
Hibbard Road, Milton, VT
Found crossing the road during evening rain. Sandy embankment with puddles from the rain along one side of the road and woods on the other. Other species observed at this time included four-toed salamanders, spring peepers, and wood frogs.
First of year! Multiple wood frogs heard throughout the evening along with a nice chorus of American Woodcock, Wilson's Snipe, and Killdeer! Also heard one spring peeper (FOY), but was unable to get a recording.
