Growing on a mossy bank, coastal broadleaf, kanuka native bush reserve.
in a mixed species forest growing from the forest floor, west coast, woods creek track. Very subtle pale pink splitting cap. Fragile
Fungus found on gravel drive not near any known organic matter.
Dense / hard but when broken open solid white inside
Growing under K/Manuka. Was right on stream margin. This margin was a good meter or more above the stream, and stoney. So in winter would get flooded, but not in summer. Suspect this area was to damp for normal times of fruiting or damp enough to allow the earthball to fruit when no others appear.
Two growing near each other in dry ground under kanuka/manuka. Regenerating coastal native bush, broadleaf/podocarp, kanuka.
Sorry for the shit photos, I picked this around dusk and it was too dark to get good photos. The hymenium was a lovely salmon pink, not that you can tell from these. The attachment was mostly at the cap margin but occasionally central. Length 10cm. I counted fully 12 caps on this single stem, very impressive. Was growing on deeply rotted wood that was basically soil now. I don't know this genus well enough but am guessing tristis because it's too tall for var. pusio?
