Photographed in my sister's yard, 10-8-20. This is the second time she has seen one in her yard.
There were about 10 plants that had either a group of butterflies, cocoons, or caterpillars on them. It is pleasing to see this species making a comeback!
Was visiting a Dombeya shrub. Surprised to see it this far north.
At least six adult Atalas were seeking nectar this morning in a suburban area of Merritt Island, FL. Here on Bidens alba 10 to 20 meters from their host plant.
Observed over six adults searching for nectar in commercial and residential central Merritt Island, FL, 10 meters from my other observation of larvae on planted Zamia integrifolia. The adults were visiting Bidens alba but not much around, and in this observation the Atalas were alighting on the non-native, invasive Schinus terebinthifolia buds and flowers. I manually obscured the location.
