North Section: 5/10/2021

Coverage: North section, parking lot to stop sign
Date/Time: 05/10/2022, 10:45-12:40
Observers: Robin & Merav
Weather: Dry, high in low 60s
Newts: 5 adults and 1 juvenile (nice spotting that tiny one Merav!)
Other roadkills: Caterpillars, and a California Striped Racer pointed out to us by a nice/concerned concrete truck driver - not technically on Alma Bridge Road, but about 50' away on the road to the cement plant by the first speed bump.
Traffic: 10 Cars, 10 trucks, 4 bicycles.
Human interactions: In addition to the truck driver, we also had a good conversation with a couple walking their dog near the Limekiln parking lot. They asked if there was anything they could do to help, and they got info and a Biobliz card from Merav.

E. Pacific Nudibranch News - Goodbye Orienthella, Welcome Back Coryphella

Scientific name changes following a recent paper for a number of Eastern Pacific nudibranch species:

1) Three-lined Aeolid (old: Orienthella trilineata) is now Coryphella trilineata.

2) Cooper's Aeolid (old: Orienthella cooperi) is now Coryphella cooperi.

3) Predaceous Aeolis (old: Himatina trophina) is now Coryphella trophina.

4) Coryphella pseudoverrucosa is no longer a separate species. It is now considered a junior subjective synonym of Coryphella verrucosa (Red-fingered Aeolis).

You do not have to go back and rename your Observations, all of these changes happened automatically. Genus Orienthella is now Inactive on iNat and should not be used for IDs.
