Barred Owl and Eagle!!(immature bald eagle?)
Today on the road between our house and going to pet-sit for a friends cat I know I saw two FANTASTIC birds...but I'm really bummed cause I couldn't get a photo of either of them :( The first one was almost certainly a Barred owl, she was sitting on a sign right on the road! we drover right past her/him and they turned and I swear looked right in the window at me, but of course we were going by to fast for me to get a good photo. Then on the way home there is a roadkill deer carcass off the side of the road. I was already tempted to stop there a few times for photos because the turkey vultures in the area have been feasting on it....but the weather has been chilly and I didn't want to try to tromp over there as the only good place to stop is the cemetery and its a good ways walk to get over there from that spot.. BUT TODAY there was what had to be some sort of Eagle. It was all brown and humongous, way too big for a hawk and the beak was too wide for any hawk. I am thinking it might have been a juvenile bald eagle that still had all brown feathers...but I could be wrong. I attempted the tromp over from the cemetery....but unfortunate I was wearing my Tye dye hoody and bright jacket and sort of forgot I was that bright XD he saw me coming from WAY off and flew away before I even remotely had a chance to get a photo of him :(
Anyways I feel like seeing Eagles is pretty rare for this area, and I also feel like seeing and owl at like 12:00 in the afternoon is also a little odd so I thought I would put the sightings down here even though I don't have any photos to go with the sightings.
