Contractor Field Ecologist

Most of my work has involved tasks requiring lizard and freshwater fish surveys, monitoring, assessments, and translocations. I've been working in ecology since 2010 and decided in 2017 to start a Masters degree at Victoria University of Wellington in Ecology and Biodiversity. I've been wanting for a long time, to improve my skills in botany, specifically to increase my capability in plant ID of New Zealand natives and exotics. So, I've undertaken a thesis research project to enable me to achieve this goal.

I'm now undertaking the field research component for my thesis, looking into the temporal dynamics of urban restoration plantings. I will be uploading any plant species I don't know onto i-naturalist to 1) see what the experts say about the plant i'm unable to identify, 2) to refer to at the end of each day I get back from field and research potential genus/ species, 3) build a library of species I have not known and learned for each city. I have 45 research sites across 5 cities which include Wellington, Nelson, Christchurch, Dunedin & Invercargill.

Thanks everyone in advance for all the help you provide in helping me identify plant species.
