PhD candidate at the University of Sydney investigating the taxonomy of the genus Acanthistius (the Wirrahs). The genus, with 11 species, is exclusively distributed in the Southern Hemisphere, with Australia and New Zealand accounting for nearly half of the global diversity.

Currently, I am attempting to resolve the identity of the enigmatic, Australian endemic Acanthistius paxtoni, the Orangelined Wirrah. The species, described in 1982 and known only from two specimens, has been MIA for over 40 years.

I am also a keen angler and enjoy attempting to catch and catalogue some of the amazing diversity that the East coast of Australia has to offer. I regularly post all things fish over on Instagram (@ym_fishing).
