Kommentit
@philkahler Do you know any good locations or times to get some of these species? Or anyone you know who may be wiling to add their observations to INaturalist?
I WANT TO FIND THEM ALL! Or at least one! Where to search on these long days of lockdown and shut outs!
Im thinking fernhill, hagg lake and surrounding countryside, jackson bottom, and koll wetlands are good spots. But my local park has turned up common yellowthroat, orange crowned warbler, and yellow rumped warbler these last few days.
I frequent all of the above. I will continue to search. Where is your local park, if you feel like sharing? Mary S. Young is a state park near Lake O and IT IS OPEN!
I live up in Bethany, by PCC rock creek. The local park, pirate ship park has a a blacktop path that goes for a couple miles. One end is Bethany lake, the other end is a field that I see deer in occasionally. There are suburbs all around, and a couple feeders in peoples yards. Im missing numerous vertebrates, mostly amphibians and reptiles, but also birds and mammals.
Many of these birds are rare visitors to our county, so many might be a bit difficult to obtain. However I do believe I have photos and historical data to contribute for the following species. I'll begin adding these as I have time.
Mute Swan
Sandhill Crane
Pectoral Sandpiper
Wilson’s Phalarope
Red-necked Phalarope
Sabine’s Gull
Herring Gull
Glaucous Gull
Common Tern
Pacific Loon
Cliff Swallow
American Pipit
Yellow Warbler
Blue grosbeak
Lazuli bunting
Phil, So looking forward to seeing your contributions and perhaps spotting a few of my own.
Lazuli Buntings should be showing up in Washington County any time now.
I have been hearing yellow warblers recently, but they hate being photographed. Or at least that is my experiences. I know that american pipits can be found at fernhill, I’ve had them there twice i believe, but that was before I photographed everything i saw.
And there was a western kingbird at Commonwealth lake last week, but I was busy. I believe there are a couple of these missing species at tualatin river wildlife refuge right now.
So as new species are sighted/added, I am going to put the observers name next to the species.
I also think i will put out new updated lists every few months. And mentions will be made during the month review.
