The description of Gymnochilus nudum (Thouars) Blume characterizes the specificity of this taxon with regard to taxa close to the subtribe Goodyerinae, in particular its simple, straight, non-lobed labellum and the absence of a lobule at the base of the labellum.
A revision of the taxa reported for Cheirostylis nuda (Thouars) Ormerod (Gymnochilus nudum (Thouars) Blume is necessary.
